HENRI-CLAUDE de Bettignies was in Singapore when he noticed Jusuf Kalla in a newspaper. His former student at the Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires (INSEAD) had been elected Vice President of Indonesia. He quickly packed his things and flew to Jakarta.
