THE cup of coffee in Room 1808 was still hot. The case containing a handmade bomb was sitting in the same room on the 18th floor of the JW Marriott Hotel. When inspecting the room an hour after the bombing occurred on Friday last week, the police found the bomb was constructed with pieces of steel, nuts and bolts, and ball bearings. Terrorists usually use such shrapnel to increase the amount of damage caused by the bomb.
