FROM inside pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), it is not unusual to hear the sounds of Quranic verses or prayers being recited. But dont expect to hear such chantings at the pesantren located at Rejoso subdistrict, in Pasuruan, East Java. From this religious school, the sound of deafening rock music can often be heard.
