IN 1928, the Sarekat Islam Party (PSI) was on the brink of a breakup. This organization’s council of ulema had to twice convene a congressin a year. One of the causes was Hadji Oemar Said Tjokroaminoto’s intention of translating the phenomal interpretation, The Holy Quran, by Maulana Muhammad Ali, founder of the Lahore Ahmadiyah.
