His lifelong works and analyses left a lasting impression on other scientists, so many of whom became his friends. In his growing years, it became increasingly clear that he could not view any problem which caused human suffering without wanting to help find solutions.

HIS departure was sudden. No will had been prepared. We lost him at a time when it seemed that he was not lacking of anything. As he rode his bicycle on his way home from university, a passenger train struck him, ending the academician's life on 15 November 2001.
This tragic end was ironic. Because through his humility, his strength of character, and his two classic works - Political Developments in Indonesia in the Period of the Wilopo Cabinet,
