The final day of the fourth Masyumi Party Congress in Yogyakarta, on December 1949, was full of tension. Disagreements occurred during discussions over the articles and rules of association. Tension was also caused by a speech urging the Islamic mass organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) to leave the party. The number of participants was estimated at about 200 people.
