FRANS Glissenaar, 52, was first interested in Ernest Franois Eugne Douwes Dekker in the early 1990s, when he came to Indonesia to conduct a research for a documentary series on Dutch colonial history, for the program Zembla, aired in VARA television stations. At that time, the particular part of the documentary dealt with the Dutch-Indonesia conflict in the 1940s.
