PAN Chairman Hatta Rajasa joined forces with Gerindra after he failed to get an offer from Megawati Soekarnoputri and the PDI-P. Gerindra, on the other hand, forged the coalition with PAN after its leader Prabowo failed to come to terms on campaign costs with the Golkar Party.
