PRABOWO Subianto and Joko Widodo, the two candidates running for the presidency of Indonesia for the 2014-2019 term, are seemingly from completely different worlds. Their ages, education, family backgrounds, careers, political history and perhaps, even their ideologies on power.

Prabowo, 63, who is running with Hatta Rajasa, was nominated by a coalition consisting of the Gerindra Party, National Mandate Party (PAN), Golkar Party, Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS), United Development Party (PPP) and Crescent Star Party (PBB). Jokowi, 53, is running with Jusuf Kalla, nominated by a coalition of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), National Awakening Party (PKS), National Democrat (NasDem) Party, Hanura Party, and Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI).
