BEFORE the presidential election exit poll results were announced, oil businessman Muhammad Riza Chalid left the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa meeting of supporters at the party headquarters in South Jakarta. He was taken to the gate by Golkar Party Treasurer Setya Novanto and not seen again until the event at the home of the late economist Sumitro Djojohadikusumo ended, about five hours later.

At 2:15pm, the percentage of votes for Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla stood at about 52 percent, while votes for Prabowo-Hatta hovered around 47 percent. The total amount of data collected had not yet reached 70 percent.
