DEPUTY Governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama cracked a joke in the office of Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo, at City Hall, on Friday morning last week. "Take me for a ride on the presidential plane," said Ahok, which is Basuki's nickname. "Just once." Governor Jokowi just smiled.
Arriving around 8:30am, Ahok immediately shook Jokowi's hand. He congratulated him because the night before the Constitutional Court (MK) had decided against the claim of Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa to annul the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla victory in the presidential election. That meant that there was no legal impediment for Jokowi to become President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2014-2019 term. "Shake on it. Now it's valid," said Ahok.
