Jariungu's Track Record

The two-story house was dwarfed by the tall buildings on Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta. On the glass door of the shop-house, there was only a palm-sized sticker that read 'www.jariungu.com', obscured by the shop signboard to its left. Other than that, there was no indication that there used to be an Internet site there that caught the attention of tens of millions of visitors.
The office for jariungu.com was deliberately made to be inconspicuous. "We weren't ready if the office was suddenly swarmed by people," said its founder, Teuku Radja Sjahnan, two weeks ago. He was worried because the site did not think twice about storing data and news about the negative behavior of the people's representatives in various regions.
Radja said that the idea of creating the database site came up at the 2009 general elections. Emerging out of the voting booths, he and his friends discussed the new candidate whom they chose. "We were wondering, what would these people do later," Radja said about the discussion at that time.
