FRANKY Welirang smiled when he learned that one of his products was assumed to be a product of the Nigerians. The director of Indofood Sukses Makmur did not object because it meant that the instant noodles produced by his company are accepted there. "Indonesian officials visiting Nigeria were shocked by the claim," he told Tempo two weeks ago.
Besides the Nigerians, Indomie is also very well-known to people in other African countries. According to International Director of Indofood, Darmawan Sarsito, more than two billion packs of instant noodles are consumed each year in Nigeria. A favorite are the jumbo-sized packages.
