SOME of the holes in Jalan Pantai Mutiara in North Jakarta have been filled with stones, while those left untreated are a meter deep. The holes vary from 1 to 2 meters in diameter in size.
Youths and families bringing their children to play in the sand and to watch the sun set at Muara Karang began noticing those holes over the past three years. Last week, Irvan Susanto, a resident of Penjaringan who routinely hangs out at the embankment wall each afternoon, said, "Before that they were not there."
