Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has been meeting with House of Representatives (DPR) Chairman Setya Novanto nearly every day. These meetings began taking place after lawmakers proposed that Law No. 30/2002 regarding the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) be revised. The coordinating minister for politics, law and security took the initiative to maneuver around the legislature's intention to take away some of the KPK's authorities.

In Luhut's office on West Merdeka Square in Central Jakarta, on Friday two weeks ago, the two finally agreed to set some conditions for the revision. One condition is that the four points up for revision in the KPK Law must strengthen the anticorruption body. The four points deal with the authority to issue orders to stop investigations, an oversight body, a mechanism for electronic surveillance and regulations on independent investigators. "All institutions, even the Vatican, need an oversight body," said Luhut.
