Three green dump trucks travel back and forth between mounds of earth at a coal mining area in Sei Siring subdistrict, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Friday at the end of October. Empty dump trucks take turns approaching an excavator to be filled with excavated earth.

Not much excavation work is being done on the land of Buana Rizky Armia. According to the company's CEO Umar Vaturusi, work on the ten hectares of land usually requires three excavators. "Now we dig sparingly. The important thing is to stay in operation," he told Tempo at the end of last October.
