A Final Farewell to the Landlady

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

FATIMAH, 45, recalled seeing the man who rented a room for just 11 days, leave earlier than usual that morning. Normally, he and his two friends leaft the room after 8:30am. On that Thursday two weeks ago, the man later identified as Afif alias Sunakim left the second-floor room at around 7:00am.

Fatimah noticed that Afif, sitting on the steps before going down, had put on blue shoes. He carried a backpack, wore a black t-shirt over blue jeans and a Nike baseball cap, just like in the photograph that circulated not long after the bomb attack on Jalan Thamrin. Afif died when the bomb he was carrying exploded in front of the Starbucks caf.
