Rumors of a resurgence of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) came back again during the 2014 presidential election campaign. After Joko Widodo was elected, a rumor circulated that the President planned to apologize to PKI families. In some areas, the police and military began conducting raids in search of communist symbols.
