LAST week, a registration desk for people to take part in a demonstration, was set up in the yard of Suwardi's house at the Nologaten sub-district in Ponorogo, East Java. A banner which read, "Registration for the 3rd 'Defend Islam' Action in Jakarta: 100 buses leaving from Ponorogo," hung behind the registration table. Suwardi said that the initiative to set up a registration desk came from members of the United Muslim Community Communication Forum
