Using a white BlackBerry Q10, Roy Suryo controls the operations of the social media team on behalf of candidates Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Sylviana Murni, who are running for the Jakarta governor and deputy governor, respectively. Each day, Roy, chairman for the campaign's information and technology program, communicates with over a dozen members of his social media team in the WhatsApp chat group named, 'AHY Cyber Team' (for the initials of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono). This group comes up with online campaign materials as well as counters bogus reports for the candidates.

To make sure that his cellular phone is on at all times, Roy takes 15 chargers wherever he goes. In the AHY Cyber Team group, Roy and his team discuss photographs, videos and texts uploaded on social media platforms. The material produced by this group is distributed on the candidates' official social media accounts and sent to volunteers and supporters. "This traditional method is the most effective and efficient," said Roy, a senior member of the Democrat Party executive board, last week.
