The police had summoned Iman to give a statement regarding the beating he suffered. This incident took place a few moments after the police questioned the founder of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI), Muhammad Rizieq Syihab, two weeks ago. When Rizieq was questioned, a crowd of FPI members and a number of mass organizations in Bandung-including the Manggala Garuda Putih-protested in front of the headquarters of the West Java police department.
