Setya Novanto is finally on trial for corruption charges involving an electronic ID card project. His attempt to evade the matter through a pre-trial motion was anticipated by the anti-corruption commission. Allegedly he received a direct flow of bribe money from that Rp5.9 trillion project.

The night before his first hearing was to be held, Setya Novanto went to bed early. Before 8pm, he plopped down on the mattress in a holding cell at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). From a standing position, it seemed as if he had toppled over and fainted right on top of the bed.
