East Java’s Sleeper Cells Attacks

The Surabaya bombings are believed to have been inspired by the rioting at the National Police Mobile Brigade Headquarter in Depok, West Java. The attacks were carried out by pro-ISIS cells that have gone under police radar. These cells had planned to launch attacks later this year, including at an international event, but they acted ahead of schedule in East Java.

The main road at the Wisma Indah Housing Complex in the Rungkut subdistrict, Surabaya, East Java, barely reaches 70 meters.
