Long before the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon in the US, countries in Southeast Asia have seen terrorism at work indicating the presence of a network involving Islamic activists in the Philippines Malaysia, and Indonesia. The motive? "To set up Islamic states in the region," says Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and, "To show sympathy with the Moros," say investigators in the Philippines.
