TO Mohammad Mahfud Mahmodin, Hutomo Mandala Putra’s debt to the state is not extraordinary at Rp2.61 trillion. If compared to the debts of other Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) obligors, the debt of Hutomo alias Tommy is in the minor category. “Some owe Rp40 trillion, dozens of trillions, or Rp7 trillion,” Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud Md. told Tempo on Friday, September 3.
