A PAINTING of Ali Sadikin in the white uniform of the Indonesian Navy Commando Corps adorns the main hall of the former Jakarta governor’s home in Menteng, Central Jakarta. The replica of the maestro Hendra Gunawan’s painting also shows a number of armed men, showing how Ali fought against the Dutch in Tegal, Central Java.
