THE dream of becoming an accountant has faded for Fitriani, an outstanding student accepted at the University of Riau (Unri). Since early May, she no longer hopes to attend the 3-year diploma program in accounting at the university. Her aspirations were shattered upon receiving a notification from Unri regarding the single tuition fee (UKT) she must pay. The amount was Rp8.5 million (about US$530) per semester.
