Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) is like the Ghost of Pondok Indah: never seen but notorious nonetheless. Indeed, JI is now a part of the United Nations list of terrorist organizations. US Secretary of State Colin Powell has even portrayed this group as having cells in Southeast Asia. Their goal, he said, is to establish an Islamic state in the region.
