TRANSMISSIONS emanating from an amateur radio on the island of Simeulue in Aceh were cut off. "The water's still rising…there's people…" then it went dead. Complete silence. That radio signal, transmitted from the Sabang Merauke Air Charter airline there on Simeule, had only been audible for less than five minutes on Sunday afternoon of last week.
