In the oppressive afternoon heat last Thursday, Teungku Ismuhadi, serving a life sentence at the Cipinang penitentiary in East Jakarta over the bombing of the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSE) three years ago, could be seen chatting with his wife, Asnani, in the prison's visiting room. Sharing fried tempe (soybean cake) and a bottle of mineral water, the discussion flowed naturally, unfazed by the presence of a guard at the end of the room.
