NUSAKAMBANGAN, July 9, 2003. There was a sudden tension inside a room at the Batu penitentiary that morning, after a number of police forced their way in to pick up Tommy Suharto. Their action caused the veins in the neck of Head of Security in Batu, Edy Wahyu Nugroho, to stand out clearly. He insisted that the security of the inmates was his responsibility. Edy hurriedly handcuffed Tommys right hand to his own left hand.
