THE tragedy struck at noon just as diners, mostly business executives and expatriates, were beginning to enjoy their lunch at the Syailendera Restaurant in the JW Marriott Hotel. At least 10 people were killed and 40 injured in the blast that left part of the building in ruins.

The restaurant was a scene of confusion as glasses and plates flew and crashed to the floor. People shouted and threw themselves down seeking protection under the tables. T
