Affandi is the icon of the Indonesian world of painting. People commemorated his centenary with various events. The Jakarta National Archives held an event entitled Imagined Affandi. Dozens of painters shared their interpretations on Affandi in their own style. Which side of Affandi has been typically appreciated by most of our painters? Tempo also reports on the works of Kartika Affandi, the daughter who is greatly influenced by her father yet lately produced works that are incomparable, as well as the worrying condition of the Affandi Museum in Yogyakarta.

Events were separately held to commemorate his birthday. In Yogyakarta, a carnival was held. Scores of people wearing masks that resembled Affandi’s face walked along Jalan Gejayan. And now, Semarang Gallery is inviting almost 70 painters to display their works in the Jakart
