Indonesia's oil reserves are estimated to soon run out. There's no strategy to save fuel (BBM), no effort to take full advantage of natural gas. In addition to a Rp1 trillion loss a year due to smuggling, Pertamina and PLN are also adept at cheating themselves out of billions of US dollars in profit.

How much longer can Indonesia proudly boast of its oil production? For a century, oil, or black gold as it is often referred to, has been a part of our daily lives. It's no wonder that we all assume it will support our lives forever.
