NEARLY two months have passed and the fate of Turi Market traders is still uncertain. The Surabaya City government has yet to build a temporary site. Today, around 3,000 traders who lost their kiosks after the market was burnt on July 26 are scattered everywhere. Those with deep pockets have migrated to Surabaya’s Wholesale Center, located right across from the site. The rest must fight each other to build makeshift kiosks on the street.
