THE period spanning from the beginning of the economic crisis to 2000 constituted difficult years for Sudarto. When the local media company in Yogyakarta where he worked went bankrupt, he joined the bandwagon of jobless people. For three years, Sudarto, a father of one child, tried very hard to find employment. He found the answer among rows of bag products in the handicraft industrial centers in Bali.
