The reserve power capacity of State Electricity Company, PLN, continues to diminish. Economizing is insufficient, particularly when the possibility of more power cuts remains.

JUST half an hour after it had opened, the seminar “Urgency for Regional Government Democratization to Accelerate Development in the Province of Banten” came to a noisy end. There was no mistaking what the cause was: a power cut. “PLN did not even let us know that there would be a power cut,” said Anom Wahyu Asmorojati, committee chairman from the Faculty of Law at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Serang, Banten, two weeks ago.
