Indonesia is in Recession!

The latest economic growth data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics shows relatively good economic growth in 2008. However, our economic growth today has actually entered a recession period. Will we experience negative economic growth (contraction) this year?

INDONESIA’S economy in the fourth quarter of last year grew at a rate of 5.2 percent. The figure is lower than the third quarter’s, which was 6.1 percent. The last quarter’s growth was contributed by household expenditure growth (4.8 percent), government expenditure (16.3 percent), and export (1.8 percent). In 2008, Indonesia’s economic growth was 6.1 percent.
