Sugar stocks are declining and consumers may have to go without it in the near future. According to the most recent data at the National Sugar Board secretariat, stocks stood at 740,923 tons at the beginning of the year, far less than last year's 1,064,021 tons. If sugar consumption is 200,000 to 300,000 tons per month and there is no additional supply, then stocks will last about two or three months.
