A number of regions are tightening up regulations on cigarette advertising. But cigarettes sales are booming.

THERE is now a different view from the water fountain traffic circle on the intersection of Jl. Sudirman and Jl. Ahmad Yani in Bogor, West Java. Since early January this year, the huge billboard advertising A Mild cigarettes, made by Sampoerna, is no longer visible. The contract for a huge Djarum billboard at the Baranangsiang bus terminal, which will expire next month, will also not be extended.
