Indonesian franchises are finding it difficult to enter foreign markets. Technical problems and license difficulties are the main obstacles.

LOCAL franchises are now being challenged to pack up and fly overseas. They gathered together in a franchise export program arranged by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Kadin), held in mid-June. Kadin will provide training to franchises that meet the criteria, including having local content of at least 60 percent, local branding and Indonesian culture. “In the initial stage, we will recruit 20 to 40 franchises,” said Amir Karamo
