Subsidies Up, Rates Not

THE tug-of-war on the amount of subsidies for electricity is over. On Monday of last week, the Budget Board of the House of Representatives and the government, represented by Minister of Finance Agus Martowardojo and Minister of National Development Planning Armida Alisjahbana, agreed to Rp40.7 trillion in subsidies for next year, higher than the previous proposal of Rp36.4 trillion.
