New Ownership Rules for Ailing Banks

Bank Indonesia will issue a regulation on capping ownership in the country's banks. The new rules will contain many restrictions.

The primary hall on the third floor of the Sjafruddin Prawiranegara building within the Bank Indonesia offices in Jakarta last Monday was unusually packed. That day, several of the country's top banking officials were present. Officially, the agenda of the day's meet was finalizing preparations for the annual financial gathering organized by the Indonesian Banking Assocation, or Perbanas.
