It was not a good time when Tommy Soetomo came to work for Angkasa Pura I in July 2010. There was turmoil in this company which manages 13 airports in eastern Indonesia, including in Surabaya. Workers were demonstrating, demanding higher wages, as well as payment for overtime and retirement funds. Administrators of the workers union were transferred. The company was tied up in court with lawsuits filed by employees.
