Krakatau Steel's cooperation with a Japanese firm has drawn protests from a South Korean company. It is only Krakatau's latest problem.

The backhoe was busily lifting large gas pipes by the side of the street at the steel mill in Krakatau Steel Industrial Zone in Cilegon, Banten, on May 16. Thousands of workers were on the 388 hectares of land known as Tanah Kubangsari. Approximately 100 of them were from South Korea.
