Bank Mandiri blocked thousands of its customers' accounts after scammers used hidden cameras to clone ATM cards. Losses incurred by the bank could amount to US$2 billion.

Gunadi Sadikin suddenly became very busy on Tuesday morning last week. Through his Twitter account, the CEO of Bank Mandiri gave a lengthy explanation as to the steps Mandiri had taken to block customer accounts. He also apologized for the unilateral action.
