Eight years have passed since discussions began, but a plan for a national payment gateway remains unachieved. A national payment gateway (NPG) is in line with President Joko Widodo's goal to support the country's e-commerce industry. "The system will also make payments more efficient," said Bank Indonesia deputy governor Ronald Waas at Bank Indonesia's headquarters in Central Jakarta last Thursday.
