When Edwin Hidayat Abdullah arrived at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Jakarta for the state-owned gas company PGN general shareholders' meeting three weeks ago, he carried with him a very important message-Hendi Prio Santoso would be reappointed CEO.
The announcement quickly prompted a wave of protest. "He's been here for nine years. That is very long period to sit in the same position," said one PGN official who requested anonymity, adding that many shareholders were concerned about Hendi's questionable track record.
