Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia's (RNI) plan for a sugar-mill expansion has gone haywire. "RNI's offer is far below the owner's expectations," said RNI director Bernardus Didik Prasetyo last Wednesday.
RNI's plans to raise sugar production were amplified after hearing that Gendhis, a company dogged by financial problems, needed an injection of funds. Sensing an opportunity, the state-owned enterprises (SOE) ministry ordered Didik to buy the company.
