THE agriculture ministry had repeatedly refused to import onions. Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman even admitted being lobbied by big-time importers. Despite his initial refusal, Amran finally accepted the result of a closed meeting at the coordinating ministry for the economy, which decided to allow onion imports.
